IT Job Description

The IT job description which is generally assigned to people working in the IT industry is given below.

  • To troubleshoot codes software’s and programs in order to find the faults and errors in order to make the software error free.
  • To design programs which can be executed in a manner so as to suit the needs of the client or the customer.
  • To sit with clients and understand their needs and requirements with respect to the software, application or the code to be made.
  • To test the software either manually or in an automated manner in order to ensure that the software or program is error free before it reaches the clients.
  • To be able to work in multiple operating systems as and when the need may be and understand the advantages of various operating systems for different work environments.
  • To be able to logically make a flow chart as well as program as per the requirements and the needs of the clients of the IT Company.

Education Requirements for IT Jobs

In order to get an IT job in a reputed IT firm there are a certain requirements which need to be fulfilled by the candidate. They are as follows:

  • B.Sc IT / BE: It is one of the most basic requirements of any IT firm.
  • Diploma in Computers or IT engineering : A diploma done from any reputed college is also accepted at a few firms while recruiting people for IT jobs.
  • Masters of Computer Science: From any reputed and recognized college or university would be an added benefit.
  • Knowledge of various computer languages and database maintenance softwares learnt from several computer institutes can also prove to be of great help while taking up an IT job.

Skills needed for getting an IT job

In order to get an IT job in a reputed company, any IT job seeker must possess the following set o skills:

  • Public Speaking: A good IT professional should have strong communication as well as public speaking skills.
  • Mathematical aptitude: An IT job seeker should also have an aptitude in Mathematics and should be able to work with figures quickly and accurately.
  • Computer knowledge: Basic knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Tally etc would prove to be an asset.
  • Logical reasoning skills: Being able to logically arrive from one point to another is a skill that software job seekers should have.
  • Programming skills: Being able to write an efficient, compact yet complete program for the client is a necessary skill for software professionals.
  • Technical skills: As the job requires you to work in the technical domain, it is necessary to have clear understanding of concepts for a software job.

Training and Certification

The training as well as the certification courses that are offered in IT can be of three major types. They have been given below:

  • The courses offered by the University
  • Training and certification courses such as Oracle, Java, C#, C++ etc. which are offered by the IT conglomerates such as Microsoft, Sun and Oracle.
  • Certification Courses that are offered by the big and the small training institutes (affiliated to Indian or foreign universities or have no affiliation at all).

IT job salary

The salary received by an IT engineer is pretty good though it may vary from one organisation to another organisation. As and when your experience increases in the organisation or in the IT industry, your salary will also rise.

Beginner (0-1 years of experience)

Monthly: Rs.12,000 to Rs.18,000

Annual: Rs.1.44 lakhs to Rs.2.16 lakhs

Professional ( 2-3 years of experience) :

Monthly: Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 25,000

Annual: Rs.2.16 lakhs to Rs. 3.00 lakhs

IT Manager ( 5 and aboveĀ  years of experience)

Monthly: Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000

Annual: Rs.3.00 lakhs to Rs. 6.00 lakhs

IT jobs are easily available all across the country though most of the IT companies in India are locates in the following cities where it will be easier to find a IT job- Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Kolkatta and Ahmedabad.
